Moving First Trailer For Amy Winehouse Documentary
There are great singers, and then there was Amy Winehouse.
The much-anticipated first trailer for Amy, the feature-length documentary made by Asif Kapadia - the man behind the award-winning Senna - has been revealed, and it's an appropriately moving watch, with soundbites from the singer compiled together to form a tragic narrative.
Previously unheard tracks and extensive unseen archive footage are promised in the finished article, which is being overseen by Universal Music Chairman David Joseph, who said of the project, "It's a very complicated and tender movie. It tackles lots of things about family and media, fame, addiction, but most importantly, it captures the very heart of what she was about, which is an amazing person and a true musical genius."
Winehouse, of course, released the iconic records Frank and Back To Black before dying from alcohol poisoning in July 2011.
Amy will open in UK cinemas on July 3
