MR. PORTER announce exclusive Gucci capsule serving Wes Anderson vibes
New collection consists of 43 pieces and is the first for both brands working together
Gucci are not known for their subtlety. What they are known for is what we like to call OOS – “Opulent Otherworldly Shit”.
I know of few scenarios in which I would have cause to wear much of the legendary Italian label’s new capsule collection at MR. PORTER – the first venture between the two – but I must find a way. Usually the parties I’m invited to involve everyone sitting on a sofa talking about how stressful it is hosting a house party until someone accidentally spills a bottle of wine on a sofa and everything descends into shouting “SEE! SEE, THIS IS WHY WE DON’T HAVE PARTIES!”
The new 43-piece capsule spans clothing, footwear, and accessories, and sets itself in the OOS master Wes Anderson – our words, not theirs, admittedly – where everyone is a well-read misanthrope with a speech impediment and a predilection for dressing like your gosh flippin’ darn life depended on it. The brand describes the collection as being “inspired by urbanism and self-expression, anchored in classic tailoring silhouettes and eccentric sportswear” and coloured in “zesty citrus hues”, including a healthy does of former Pantone Colour of the Year mimosa (yellow).
“Classic tailoring and eccentric sportswear”? Sounds like Wesley Wales "Wes" Anderson (born 1 May, 1969) is an American film director, film producer, screenwriter, and actor whose films are known for their distinctive visual and narrative style to us! Hope this cracking gear comes with undertones of melancholy and a sparky British Invasion soundtrack.
The Gucci x MR. PORTER capsule collection is available to buy from 18th May from MR. PORTER
