Netflix release first 'Narcos' Season 4 trailer and confirm the two lead characters
Pedro Pascal is out
The first teaser trailer for Season 4 of the hit Netflix show Narcos has been released, and while it doesn’t tell us much about what to expect, it does confirm who our two lead characters will be.
The 50-second clip shows two men strumming Spanish music on guitars and playing trumpets, while gusts of white powder fly from the instruments.
But we also see two names pop up: Michael Peña and Diego Luna, who it’s confirmed will be the two leads for the show’s fourth season.
Peña is best known for roles in Crash (2004), Ant-Man (2015) and The Martian (2015), while Luna is a director and producer as well as an actor, and recently appeared as Cassian Andor in the Star Wars spin-off Rogue One.
In Season 3, with Pablo Escobar dead, the show turned its attention to Cali Cartel and its kingpins: cartel leader Gilberto Rodriguez Orejuela (Damian Alcazar), Gilberto’s brother Miguel Rodriguez Orejuela (Francisco Denis), hitman Pacho Herrera (Alberto Ammann), and Chepe Santacruz Londono, who runs the New York branch of the Colombian drug network.
Javier Peña, played by Game of Thrones’ Pedro Pascal, was the man in charge of bringing them down and had the starring role, but with the show moving on to a new story, set in Mexico City, Pascal’s role will be limited, or possibly even non-existent, in Season 4.
The story focuses on the Guadelajara cartel, meaning the show will actually be going back in time, to the late ‘70s and early ‘80s.
The fourth season is expected to be released in September 2018, so we can expect plenty more information to come out before then.
