Netflix has cancelled Marvel’s 'Daredevil’ after three seasons

When Netflix began its run of original series as part of its partnership with Marvel, Daredevil was the first to get the TV treatment.
The show, starring Charlie Cox in the title role, was named among the most-binged programmes on the streaming service during its three-season run.
However, following the rollout of season three in October, Netflix has confirmed the show will not be renewed for more episodes.
“We are tremendously proud of the show’s last and final season and although it’s painful for the fans, we feel it best to close this chapter on a high note,” Netflix said in a statement.
“While the series on Netflix has ended, the three existing seasons will remain on the service for years to come, while the Daredevil character will live on in future projects for Marvel.”
The company thanked those involved in the show, which was named Best New Media Television Series at the 2016 Saturn Awards.
As The Hollywood Reporter notes, the announcement comes as we draw closer to Marvel’s parent company Disney launching its own streaming service with new Marvel original series.
Fellow Marvel series Iron Fist and Luke Cage have ended their runs on Netflix, with both shows cancelled in October after two seasons each.
However, two other shows have been renewed by the streaming service: Jessica Jones has been renewed for a third season, with a release date still to be confirmed, while a second season of The Punisher has also been ordered.
