ShortList favourites New Balance have joined forces with socks’ finest Stance on their first collaboration, ‘First Of All’.
The drop consists of two trainers and two socks, naturally, each named for the hometowns of the brands involved: The Boston and The San Clemente. The Boston – New Balance’s birthplace – features a more ruggedly constructed 997 silhouette with a colourway that calls to mind the local favourite cuisine, lobster rolls, as well as the city’s famed brownstone architecture along with a touch of reflective teal. Stance have a typically understated grey, knitted sock to go alongside it, too. A nice combo.
The San Clemente portion of the drop – named for Stance’s Californian home – is a thoroughly more summery affair. The recently-introduced, low-profile 1978 silhouette comes in slate blue with tan suede to be paired with a Stance 144 Needlecrew sock with athletic stripes designed to “evoke the famed beaches and surf breaks of San Clemente where Stance came to life only seven years ago”. Surf’s up! And so are these cool-ass shoes… Up for grabs, that is.
The New Balance x Stack 997 ‘Boston’ set and the 1978 ‘San Clemente’ set will be available from HANON from 10th June
