New Future Islands single 'The Chase' lands online
High tempo synth-pop meets ‘dad dancing’ might sound like hell on earth, but if you've seen or heard Future Islands, you’ll know differently.
Fusing catchy rock, chest pounding movement and heartfelt lyric during a game-changing appearance on The Late Show With David Letterman last March, the Baltimore four-piece essentially went and redefined how we watch live music on TV, and word of mouth has since moved at a rate of knots.
Shortly after the Letterman appearance, the band dropped their excellent fourth album, Singles, leaving us all under the impression it might be a good while until we get to hear something new. Well here’s the good news: they’re back, crafting the similarly up-tempo track The Chase, newly leaked online for your listening pleasure, below.
Debuted on BBC Radio 6 Music on the weekend, the new single was recorded directly to 7-in vinyl to coincide with Record Store Day, which is where the bad news comes in….you may have to wait a while before you can buy it. So give it a whirl while you can.
Additionally, if you're a fan, be sure to pick up tickets for their forthcoming appearance at BST festival in Hyde Park this summer, because they're an act that deserve to be seen live.
