What does this new ‘Game of Thrones’ teaser tell us about Season 8?
Things are going to end badly, aren't they?
As 2018 draws to a close, there’s pretty much one thing on everyone’s mind (apart from the impending doom of Brexit): the return of Game of Thrones.
The HBO epic will air its final season in 2019 - and we’re anticipating the biggest, most shocking season in the show’s history.
We’ve already been given plenty of hints about what to expect and now we’ve even been blessed with a delicious teaser trailer, titled ‘Dragonstone’.
The short, animated, enigmatic clip is captioned: “Fire and ice. The final season of Game of Thrones begins this April. #GoTS8”
In the teaser, which has been viewed more than 12 million times, we see a map of Westeros consumed by ice and fire. Sigils of House Targaryen (a dragon), House Stark (a direwolf) and House Lannister (a lion) are also caught up in the destruction.
Is this a not-so-subtle hint at catastrophes to come next season?
And in the midst of this clash of fire and ice, a black wall appears to formed, dividing the continent in two. This could represent a new Wall that’s built to keep out The Others.
We’ll find out exactly what it all means when Game of Thrones returns for the final time in April 2019.
