It's turning into quite the busy season for Dickens. After the recent adaptation of Great Expectations, starring Ralph Fiennes and Helena Bonham Carter, just last week, we also heard news that The Invisible Woman, a semi-biopic was in development,
Today, we have news that a reinvention of Oliver Twist is on the cards. Actually, make that a second reinvention, but we'll come back to that later. Dodge & Twist is a heist adventure that takes place 20 years after the events of the novel.
Going down the same route as Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes franchise, the plot follows Oliver Twist, who's now a police officer, and the Artful Dodger, a master criminal, as they find themselves pitted against each other. It all relates to a plot to steal the Crown Jewels.
The script comes from Cole Haddon, who is behind an upcoming small screen reboot of Dracula starring Jonathan Rhys Myers, while it's being produced by Matt Tolmach, of the recent Spider-Man reboot and the upcoming Jumanji remake.
Oh and yes, the other adaptation. It's called Olivia Twisted and will be a TV show based around a female protagonist. Yeah, we're not so sure about that one.
