The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers are returning to the big screen.
The legendary team of costumed heroes have been running successfully as a TV series for 20 seasons, but the two previous mid-90s film versions were both fairly low-budget, critically-unacclaimed affairs, albeit mildly successful.
It looks like the new reboot, under the guidance of Lionsgate and creator Haim Saban, will be an altogether bigger affair, with a spokesman from the studio saying that "the Power Rangers stories and characters have been embraced by generations of audiences for more than 20 years, and today they are more powerful than ever. We have the ideal partner and the perfect brand with which to create a motion picture event that will resonate with moviegoers around the world for years to come".
That's it for details at present, but we await directorial, writing and casting announcements in due course. One thing's for sure: the costume guys won't have to work too hard to improve on the outfits seen above.
