It's okay, you can lower your scepticism levels. Despite screen adaptations of video games rarely going well, the latest trailer for the live-action Halo Nightfall series is daring to give us cause to hope this one could be different. Maybe.
Now, we're not promising it's going to be a triumph to rival some of Ridley Scott's best work - trailers for some of his latest projects appear to indicate brilliance, only for the final piece to turn out half-baked - but the Nightfall producer looks to be mixing up some grand sci-fi with some convincing character performances.
Set between the action of Halo 4 and Halo 5: Guardians, Nightfall introduces a pivotal new character to the Halo story - Jameson Locke (Mike Colter, The Good Wife). An agent of the Office of Naval Intelligence, Locke and his team are sent to investigate the source of a horrific biological attack, uncovering an ancient artefact that will present the group with a threat more deadly than the Covenant or the Flood.
Airing on Xbox consoles on 11 November alongside the arrival of Halo: The Master Chief Collection, we're becoming more convinced that this isn't going to be a glorified cutscene. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
