Rarely a day passes by these days without some news of Bill Murray playing out a real life version of Wedding Crashers.
But don’t fear, Murray fans - he’s back doing what he does best in a new trailer for St. Vincent, a comedy drama which sees the actor play the sort of free-spirited maverick man-child that made him so bankable in the eighties.
Striking up a friendship with a 12-year-old kid, we see Murray’s bolshie bachelor eschewing normal, boring advice and instead introducing his young friend about more adult pursuits – namely, beer, gambling, women, and, as a group of bullies trouble the young hero, brawling.
You’ll also notice the film marks Chris O’Dowd’s latest assault on Hollywood, playing priest, while Melissa McCarthy and Naomi Watts are also present to bolster a seriously talented cast.
More than anything, of course, it's simply all about Murray. And while we've loved the ponderous Oscar-bait roles he’s all but trademarked in this late chapter of his career, we won't lie about being a little more than excited at the prospect of the great man going back to more untamed, live-wire performances.
That, and we've always dreamed of having Bill Murray as a father.
St Vincent is out in cinemas from 24 October
