The Panini World Cup sticker album is here – but the price is going up

There are two types of people in the world: those who get excited about the World Cup for its football, and those who prefer to focus on the important things… like kits, and stickers.

The most recent European Championships saw grown adults bitten by the Panini sticker bug, and you bet your bottom rouble we’ll see more of the same this time around.

Panini have the official sticker gig for the Russia World Cup too, and their announcement about the new album has come at the perfect time to distract us from threats of boycotts and, y’know, all the other terrifying stuff going on in the world right now.

However, it’s not all good news.

Two years ago, a packet of five Euro 2016 stickers would set you back 50p. 

Now? Eighty of your English pence.

Now, we know the Brexit vote took place during the tournament and the UK voted to leave the European Union just days before England’s players downed tools against Iceland to exit their own European venture, but that’s quite the jump.

As for the stickers themselves, they’re sure to prompt a great deal of speculation about who’s going to make each country’s final 23-man squad.

The collection features 682 stickers, including players from all 32 of the nations competing in the tournament.

Panini have also promised 50 ‘special stickers’, though we’ve got to wait to find out what that will entail.

Is the new price a lot? Yes. Will it stop us blowing our paychecks on stickers of players who might not even make the final squad? What do you think?
