12 great looks from PS by Paul Smith's awesome new streetwear collection
The British icon adds a modern twist to his classic tailoring
Think of Paul Smith and what do you see? If the answer is classic tailoring and British silhouettes, we wouldn’t blame you. However, for the brand’s 2017 pre-spring/summer campaign, they’ve added a contemporary twist throughout their key looks, updating them with streetwear shapes and current trends.
From puffas, to souvenir jackets, to joggers, to layering zip-up funnels, there’s a clear street sports influence running through PS by Paul Smith’s latest collection, which collide and contrast with the smart staples they’ve become known for, styling them with tailored checked overcoats, slim fitting trousers and eccentric prints in formal shirts.
They’re not the only sophisticated name to adapt to streetwear this year, with Aquascutum and North Face both collaborating with Supreme on limited edition capsule ranges, with pieces selling out almost immediately.
So is this the way for legendary brands to go? Modernise or die? Is there any place for the suit anymore without it being paired with trainers and a t-shirt? Well if it looks this slick, we say R.I.P.
