Dedication is to be admired, whether it’s Tom Hardy purportedly gaining 30lbs of pure brawn for the latest Batman flick, or a performance ‘artist’ covering himself in silver paint and standing still in Covent Garden for six hours. But photographer, Jim Adams tops the lot.
The American photographer searches for current day landscapes, lighthouses and even rickety barn houses with the intention of collapsing an entire century into one image.
After doggedly researching the area in question, reproducing and retouching the original image, Adams then overlays the monochrome image onto the newer one. Behold – two juxtaposed eras in one.
And although it may look like some techno-based trickery has been employed to create the images - you'd be well, right. A Nikon D90 takes the snaps, while Photoshop (if needed) finishes the job.
