Ever stopped to wonder what happens with all those military planes once they’ve been decommissioned or no longer fit for service?
No, nor had we, if we’re being honest. Well, not until now anyway. Anyway, it appears that not all are allowed to wither away and die in some far off place where decommissioned military planes go to wither away and die.
Some get turned into art. Big, bold, colourful art. At the Pima Art and Space Museum in Tucson, Arizona, a new exhibition entitled The Boneyard Project: Return Trip, sees some old planes given new licks of paint by a number of acclaimed modern artists including Andrew Schoultz, How & Nosm, Nunca, Retna, and one of our favourites, Faile.
It all looks very intricate and fun to us. Maybe EasyJet should think about doing something similar – that orange livery is getting well boring.
