Another day, another report of a Hollywood remake. And this time it’s testosterone-soaked sci-fi classic Predator getting a big budget do over.
Wait. We know what you’re thinking - we’ve already had 2010's noticeably plural and otherwise forgettable Predators, right? But this project is no spin off, rather a straight-up reboot written by Iron Man 3 director Shane Black and directed by Fred Dekker (erm, Robocop 3).
While quite what Arnold Schwarzenegger makes of it all, or who will fill his sizable jungle boots, is as yet unclear, it is worth noting that Black has history with the 1987 hit, having appeared in a small role as Hawkins - a role he was offered after turning down an offer by producers to rewrite a first draft after they were impressed by his seminal action script for Lethal Weapon.
So, if we're looking for positives, Black's had a treatment rolling around his head for the best part of a few decades now. Even so, expect mini-guns, titanic handshakes and a really keen desire to get to a chopper.
