There's no doubt about it: spectacular crashes are part of the fun of watching high-speed racing.
But we never want to see people get hurt, which is why this particular crash is so fantastic.
Radical Euromasters driver Marcello Marateotto was driving flat out through the famous Eau Rouge section of the Spa racecourse in Belgium when he suffered an exploding tyre. He quickly spun out of control, smashing into a wall while his car distintegrated. Amazingly, he was relatively unhurt, going in to hospital as a precaution, but emerging a day later unscathed. The race was immediately red-flagged and abandoned, with the standings six laps into a planned 600km race counted as the result.
Watch below, and particularly admire the man in the blue shirt, who doesn't so much as flinch as the car careers towards him. Nerves of steel.
