Much has been made of the money spent on the admittedly brilliant 2014 World Cup in Brazil, with minor rioting and public outcry even visible during the footballing gala.
Because, of course, aside from asking why the government would spend billions on a sporting spectacle when it has millions in poverty, the question now posed concerns the gigantic stadia dotted around the country with no danger of being filled again until another major tournament.
These staggeringly cool concepts from Sylvain Macaux may just hold one answer: the designer has given life to four of the arenas by picturing what they would look like slotted with affordable apartments, thus solving two problems at once.
Whether the hype about these prints becomes large enough that Brazil’s government take notice is anyone’s guess. Though they’d be hard pressed to fault the ingenuity behind the bold ideas.
Besides, it might even be enough to help its citizens forget all about that hammering by the Germans.
