Red Bull Settles Lawsuit For Not Actually Giving You Wings

 

Be honest; we’ve all swigged too much Red Bull and had to be talked down from the ceiling at some points in our lives.

 

We’re speaking figuratively, of course, as despite the pupil-dilating soft drink’s famed claim of ‘giving you wings’, knocking a few cans back won’t grant you the power of flight. You’ll still be bound by the irksome nuisance of gravity.

 

But now, in possibly the biggest news to break since it turned out the Pope was fond of Catholicism, the company’s slogan has been deemed ‘false’ via a US lawsuit, with the company agreeing a settlement of reimbursing anyone who bought the drink in America between 2002 and 2014.

 

Effectively, this means anyone who lived or worked in the US over 12 years could be entitled to $3 back each until the $13,000,000 money pot it has offered up runs out.

 

The man behind all this? Plaintiff Benjamin Careathers, who had claimed that the company’s slogan has mislead himself and many others into believing the beverage would deliver more performance, concentration and better reaction speeds. "Such deceptive conduct and practices mean that (Red Bull's) advertising and marketing is not just 'puffery,' but is instead deceptive and fraudulent and is therefore actionable," was how the argument was put.
