It had to happen. After books, plays, articles and even board games have been turned into films, now Hollywood has been looking online for inspiration.
A recent post on Reddit, the social news aggregator and online community, has been snapped up by Warner Brothers, who are developing it into a movie.
The thread was started by James Erwin, an author and two-time Jeopardy! winner, who set out to answer the question: "What if a unit of current U.S. Marines are suddenly transported back to ancient Rome and forced to do battle with the Roman legions?" The film will follow the marines as they travel back in time and find themselves in the middle of a battle. They then have to set history back on its track in order to return home.
The "Rome, Sweet Rome" thread was spotted by Madhouse Entertainment's Adam Kolbrenner who contacted the writer and developed the concept. It was then taken to Warners who jumped on-board.
Might be worth putting bit more thought into your online comments...
