Resident Evil cop show in development

A Resident Evil cop show? "That's another case solved by Detective Redfield and his trusty zombie deputy!" Don't worry, it's going to be far more sensible than that.

Word comes from Bloody Disgusting that a production company is in the early stages of developing a television series based around Capcom's classic zombie shooter Resident Evil.

Titled Arklay, the series would appear to precede the events of the 1996 game, in which players encountered the deadly zombie virus in the dilapidated Spencer Mansion in the Arklay mountains. A pitch for the script currently being developed by Shawn Christopher Lebert and Mance Media reveals the show's sinister premise:

"When Detective James Reinhardt is thrust into a series of bizarre homicides, he unravels the city is hiding a dark conspiracy. Learning a fatal virus is connected to it all, Reinhardt discovers it's already coursing through him. With time no longer on his side, he must solve the conspiracy to save his own life."

A company looking to cover up a virus outbreak? Something lurking in the woods? Endless potential for barmen to raise their eyebrows and mutter "No one's been up there for years..."? We can't wait.
