Who? Rudimental, feat. J Angel
What’s the story? We like how old school this is, in both tune and execution. Harking back to the golden era of clubbing, London collective Rudimental decided to release a one-off house track, Healing, on a white label 12", under an assumed name (Major Tom) and stand back to see if the music would do the talking. Thanks to plays from the likes of Calvin Harris, Todd Terry and Roger Sanchez, it gained some serious traction in clubland; now the band have revealed that they are the artists behind it, and it gets a digital release - just in time for your barbecues this bank holiday weekend. It's a classic bit of soulful, rubbery house, featuring some great vocals from new Roc Nation-signed artist J Angel and some neat little guitar and horn licks. It's also pleasingly long. Hey, if you've got a cool groove going on, why rush it?
