Rick and Morty team up with Run the Jewels for music video and limited clothing line
It's from the director of the Szechuan sauce episode
We might be waiting a while for the next season of Rick and Morty, but that doesn’t mean we won’t see the show’s titular characters crop up elsewhere.
Co-creator Dan Harmon recently revealed the show is yet to be renewed by broadcaster Adult Swim, despite every single episode of season three surpassing previous highs of 2.2m US viewers and even surpassing The Big Bang Theory among certain demographics.
However, there’s still plenty of footage of the animation – enough to make an entire video for Run the Jewels’ new single ‘Oh Mama’.
RTJ have been busy in the last year, with the rap duo (comprised of Killer Mike and El-P) introduced at Glastonbury by Jeremy Corbyn and making multiple end-of-year lists for their album Run the Jewels 3.
Directed by Juan Meza-León, who also directed episodes of Rick and Morty’s second and third season, including its season three opener which introduces the Szechuan Sauce arc, it features footage of the characters from across the R&M multiverse.
So, if you want to see Rick Sanchez shooting up alien galaxies while listening to political hip-hop, this is for you.
Run the Jewels are due to headline the inaugural Adult Swim Festival, which will take place in Los Angeles in October this year.
The two-day festival promises music, comedy and ‘previews of your favourite shows,’ though there’s no indication at this stage whether Rick and Morty will be among the shows in question.
Harmon and co-creator Justin Roiland are yet to begin work on season four, as it’s yet to be officially renewed, but October is far enough away for a renewal and new material to emerge. Just saying.
Oh, and in the meantime we’ve been treated to another little gem, but you’ll have to be quick to take advantage.
