It's been rumoured for months but today we have official confirmation that Ryan Reynolds will take on the lead role in a Highlander remake.
The update of the 1986 fantasy adventure will be directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, best known for 28 Weeks Later and Intact.
As we hope you all know, the original starred Christopher Lambert as an immortal warrior fighting various bad guys through the ages. Oh and getting some sword-swinging lessons from Sean Connery.
It received four sequels (no we haven't seen them either) and a TV series. Little is known about the reboot yet but a a script has been written by Iron Man scribes Art Marcum and Matt Holloway and, more worryingly, Twilight: Breaking Dawn writer Melissa Rosenberg.
It's come at an opportune time for Ryan Reynolds who suffered a bad 2011 after Green Lantern and The Change-Up both flopped. His next film sees him starring as a dead cop trying to figure out who killed him in R.I.P.D. No, really.
What do you think? Good casting?
