Your phone makes calls, and your tablet is useful for work. But that means carrying around two devices. So Samsung have made them meet halfway in the shape of its new Galaxy Note.
Announced today at the IFA Consumer Electronics show in Berlin, the Note is technically a phone, but has a 5.3 inch screen (compared to 7.3 inches of the iPad), enabling the user to see presentations and documents in their entirety and more of web pages without the need to scroll down.
Other vital statistics include its super-thin size of 9.65mm and super-light weight of 178g (under a third of the weight of an iPad and only 30% heavier than an iPhone).
The Note has huge potential for business usage; despite being quite retro, the accompanying stylus can be used to annotate pictures, presentations, documents and even screen grabs, then share them with colleagues.
Our man on the ground, Shortlist Deputy Editor Gershon Portnoi, has given the Note a cautious thumbs up, but casts doubt over its potential as a usable phone due to its size; "hard not to feel a bit like it's 1999 again" is the verdict.
If they can get the original Snake on there as standard then it really will be like 1999 again.
