While the history of Stephen King adaptations is patchy to say the least, 1408 emerged as one of the strongest, and scariest, of the crop when it hit cinemas back in 2007.
Part of this was down to the strong casting of John Cusack and Samuel L Jackson in the lead roles and Hollywood is hoping that lightening will strike twice as the two are re-teaming for the big screen version of Cell.
While Cusack had already been confirmed to play lead character Clay Riddell, Jackson has just been announced to take on the role of Tom McCourt.
The plot follows artist Riddell as his life is torn apart by a mysterious signal that turns all cell phone users into zombies. Jackson's character ends up joining him as they both try to evade disaster.
Stephen King co-wrote the script with Last House On The Left scribe Adam Alleca while the film will be directed by Top "Kip" Williams, best known for Paranormal Activity 2.
Production will begin in January.
