Bananas are weird. Think about it. The way their curve fits neatly in the human hand, they way their colour indicates their ripeness, their ability to perfectly compliment ice cream. In fact, all fruit is a bit strange: pears are odd, rambutan are insane - and don't even get us started on star fruit. Then there are Saucony's Strange Fruit.
Reuniting with the designers of Play Cloths, we're not sure if Saucony's collaboration is looking to draw on floral connotations or that song by Billie Holiday - either way, the results are some pleasingly vibrant variations on the classic 5000 model.
Following in the footsteps of the pastel-shaded Cotton Candy pack, the triplet of Strange Fruits recolours the suede Saucony 5000 in three colours - a remarkably bold purple and orange, and a comparatively mute (yet still fresh) grey.
Star perforations cover the toe of the trainer, breaking up an otherwise uniform nubuck texture.
Recently revealed on Play Cloth's Instagram feed, news is yet to emerge on the pack's price and release date - but expect them to sneak into retailers by the end of the month.
