In the tragic wake of Robin Williams’ passing, the world has witnessed a wave of heartwarming tributes roll in, each paying ode to the comic genius in their own way.
Now, however, Secret Cinema, currently wowing thousands with their Back To The Future event, may well have paid one of most poignant tributes so far, announcing a commemorative screening of Dead Poets Society with funds raised going towards mental health charity, Mind.
The classic tale, starring Williams as the maverick teacher who uses poetry and desk-standing to engage with and win over a class of prep school boys, is not only stirring, but a fitting farewell for the great man whose lively spirit transcended the screen.
Beamed to a special audience at East London’s Troxy, movie-goers will also have chance to see live poetry, music, art performances and other neat surprises we’ve come to expect from the movie experience specialists.
Be quick, mind, because it’s happening at 7.30pm this Friday (15th August). And don't worry if you don't get tickets (£25 each) as organisers are encouraging Williams fans across Europe to watch the film simultaneously at 8pm UK time.
Oh, and you can get down from your desk now.
