Seth Rogen had issues with James Franco on 'The Disaster Artist' set
Unsurprisingly, the film about the making of 'The Room' was a nightmare to film
We’ve told you about The Disaster Artist before - the film about the making of The Room - one of the greatest good-bad movies ever made - so you’ve no excuse for not being extremely excited about it. Here, remind yourself of said excitement by watching the trailer:
Top stuff, etc., but news today courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter has emerged that the shoot wasn’t exactly plain-sailing, perhaps mirroring the fraught making of The Room. Essentially, producer and star Rogen has said that he had issues with Franco, because he stayed in character as the film’s director and star, Tommy Wiseau, for the entire making of the movie. I can empathise with Rogen here, as I can imagine that getting pretty tiresome.
Rogen said:
“I couldn’t deal with it, straight up, for the first two days. People would come up and ask me, ‘Where’s James?’ And I was always like ‘He’s right fucking there!’
“My grandmother came out and she just did not get what the fuck was happening. She was walking around like, ‘I thought James was in the movie?’ I never explained it to her.”
Of course, it’s not like they had a giant barney and now both hate each other’s guts, but I rate old James Franco can get a tad frustrating at times. Still, hopefully his method went towards a great performance, because I’m still ultra-pumped to catch this. Particularly after it came out that Tommy Wiseau has given it his (almost) full blessing, saying:
“[I] support The Disaster Artist 99.9 percent. You may ask me what is the 0.01 percent later.”
Wiseau there, being as cryptic as he is about how bloody old he is.
The Disaster Artist is out in the UK on 1 December - see you there.
