Back in December, we launched the ShortList Workshops; a series of specialist courses aimed at developing the careers and expanding the life skills of the modern man. That’s you, by the way.
Previous workshops have tackled subjects such as butchery and launching a small business, the next one – in association with camera brand Leica – will focus on street photography. It takes place on 6 April at Leica Akademie Mayfair, costs £200 and the speaker will be esteemed photojournalist Tom Stoddart.
“In this workshop, I’ll be encouraging participants to get out with their cameras and explore the area they live in,” Tom explains. “You don’t have to own an expensive camera – great pictures are made with your head and your heart.”
The image above was taken by Stoddart (right) in 1993 in war-torn Sarajevo. “I was sheltering from gunfire when a beautiful woman appeared in the deserted street, with her head held high. I shot three or four frames on the Leica as she moved past me. Her message to the gunmen was simple: “You will never defeat us!”
