Champion vegetable grower Ian Neale has broken his own swede growing world record - and received a call from Snoop Dogg to congratulate him.
The unlikely duo became friends two years ago when Neale first claimed the record, with the rapper uploading a video to YouTube inviting him to come along to his show in Cardiff and give him some gardening tips; Snoop, of course, being a keen horticulturalist, albeit in a slightly different area. He duly went along and enjoyed 'a smoke' with the music legend, although he stated he was no fan of his music, saying "I wouldn't pay to see him. I'm still deaf."
Neale upped the ante a month ago with a whopping 95.96lb swede, smashing his previous best by 10.46lbs. Upon hearing the news, Snoop got in touch.
Mr Neale said: “When Snoop Dogg rang me I didn't say a lot because I was surprised to hear from him. But he congratulated me – it was a bit weird. He told me his own veg was growing very well.”
However, since that swede was unveiled a month ago, Neale has, unbelievably, broken the record again, with a 119lb beauty exhibited at the Malvern Autumn show last week, as well as taking the record for heaviest carrot, weighing 8.35kg.
Perhaps he could have a go at some beetroot growing and give Snoop some big beets to rap along to.
