Something very wrong happened in Hey Arnold and you never noticed

Hey Arnold was an odd cartoon.

A strange little man in a strange little city with a football for a head and a tiny baseball cap that could possibly be the most impractical ever fashioned, it was weird. That much you already knew.

But what if we told you it was more subversive than you ever thought?

Dig beneath the scenery and the sexual innuendos were off the (whips and) chain. Firstly, there was Arnold’s stoner grandpa Phil, who had a head which looked remarkably like an errect penis, meaning viewers might have been staring at a schlong and never noticed. Then there’s the fact that Arnold once blushed at being asked for a threesome, and now there’s this….

In an ostensibly normal scene featuring Arnold and his stalker friend Helga (who often talks of her ‘childhood trembling’ when speaking of the football-headed scamp) Twitter user @Urdumb4replying just noticed two people in a kitchen doings something... well, just have a look.

We’ll leave you to speculate about what exactly that is. But given '90s kid's cartoons have a reputation for cajoling in inappropriate content (The Animaniacs was full of it), perhaps it's not so innocent as simply a guy licking a plate, oblivious to a woman choking in front of him.
