Everything we know so far about ‘Sons of Anarchy’ spinoff ‘Mayans MC’
A new trailer for the show has finally landed
This might be hard to believe, but more than three full years have passed since Sons of Anarchy was taken off the air.
The crime drama came to an end in December 2014, with final episodes ‘Papa’s Goods’ drawing 6.4m US viewers and ranking among the greatest TV finales of all time.
However, there has since been some good news – a spinoff is on the way and, after a little wait, we’ve also got a trailer for upcoming release Mayans MC.
Kurt Sutter, who created Sons of Anarchy, has devised the new show with Elgin James.
Experienced TV director Norberto Barba joined Sutter and James as an executive producer, having overseen the pilot.
It is set two and a half years after the events of the original show, and takes place on the border between the United States and Mexico.
Fans of Sons of Anarchy will be familiar with the character Marcus Alvarez, played by Emilio Rivera, who featured in the first show as president of the Mayans Motorcycle Club and will take a prominent role in the spinoff along with a number of new cast members.
Veteran actor Edward James Olmos (Miami Vice, Battlestar Galactica) is part of the main cast for Mayans MC, along with J.D. Pardo (Revolution), Jacqueline Obradors (NYPD Blue) and Sarah Bolger (The Tudors).
A number of key roles on the show were reportedly recast, and the pilot reshot, but it now looks like things are finally ready to roll.
Back in January, Variety reported that broadcaster FX had ordered a 10-episode run for the new show (three fewer than Sons of Anarchy’s debut season in 2008), and it is anticipated to debut this autumn.
