They said this day would never come. It was a myth, a rumour heard around the internet that two masters of Geekdom would one day combine and become the ultimate game for commuters all around the world.
That day, dear reader, has arrived. Angry Birds Star Wars is set to launch November 8 and what a happy day that will be.
The app, available in iOS, Android and computers, will be a complete new version with the recognisable birds and pigs taking on the personalities of characters from the Star Wars saga.
Paul Southern, vice president of licensing and consumer products marketing for Lucasfilm Ltd. said: "They are not Angry Birds dressed up as Star Wars characters. They are characters in their own right."
The birds will play the part of the Rebel Alliance, with red bird taking the role of Luke Skywalker. Other characters set to appear include Chewbacca, Princess Leia, Han Solo and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Darth Vader and the dark side of the Force will be represented by the pigs.
Each level will take place on well-known environments from Star Wars films, such as Tatooine and the ice planet of Hoth. John Williams' iconic score will also feature.
