In case you haven't been watching Steven Seagal: Lawman, a reality show that recklessly allows the faded action star to actually work as an officer of the law, Steven Seagal wants to make a damn difference.
However, things have been predictably bumpy. The biggest of these bumps ended up in Seagal being blamed for the death of a puppy. Ignoring this potentially important warning sign, he has just been sworn-in as deputy sheriff for Hudspeth County, Texas.
His main responsibility will be seeking out people trying to illegally cross the border from Mexico, not trying to stop terrorists. Sadly.
He personally contacted County Sheriff Arvin West about getting involved. 'Mr Seagal is not in this for the celebrity or publicity,' Sheriff West said. 'He has a sincere passion for his country and he wants to do more to help. I think he will make a significant contribution to this office and to our community.'
His job starts in January. Until then, local puppy-owners will be investing in tighter kennel security.
