The footwear of summer 2014 looks to have been overcome with an abundance of carotene.
Specifically, beta-carotene. Better known (and more readily spelt) as orange.

adidas' barely-there Energy Boost 2 running shoes gain some extra presence thanks to the abundance of orange trim. While the energy-returning 'boost' sole avoids a day-glow overhaul, the sock-like techfit upper is bathed in what adidas describe as 'solar zest'.
