You might know Supreme as practically the entire world’s shorthand reference for modern streetwear unless you’re old or one of those nerds on Facebook who says things like “whomst is this person/brand? I’ve never heard of them??? Should I????” under posts about everything from North Korea to Beyonce. Hate those guys.
Anyway, James Jebbia’s Supreme has dropped the lookbook for their upcoming fall/winter collections and, oh boy, it looks like it’s a good one. Taking a decidedly more grown-up approach to proceedings – we’ve seen no box logo-branded pickaxes this time – but without forgoing the attitude that’s made them them, the drop features some understated jackets, wool coats, and – in typically New York-ian style – plenty of leather and shearling (as well as the odd array of items featuring garish graphic prints, like the cash-money dollar bill two-piece suit or the Scarface-print denim jacket, just to keep up appearances). Our pick? The pink – OK, not super grown-up but carry on – collared bomber with the detailed panels and elasticated cuffs. What a piece.
Could this largely more pared-back approach be a sign of the young brand growing up? Or just a practical response to the earth’s axis annual tilting of the norther hemisphere further from the sun’s rays? We’ll have to wait and find out.
The Supreme FW17 collection will be released on August 17 at Supreme’s NY, LA and European locations and on their online store on 24 August.
