When Schwarzenegger told us he'd "be back" in 1984's The Terminator, we had no idea as to the scope of these recurring visits. Three film instalments later, with a questionable fifth outing penned for 2015, news has emerged that The Terminator is set for yet another return, this time in video game form.
British video game publish Reef Entertainment has announced the acquisition of the console video game rights to The Terminator and console and PC game rights to Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Reef are set to create a new game with the licences, currently entitled Terminators: The Video Game.
Terminator has been a vehicle for some forgettable video game titles in the past, gracing the likes of the NES, SNES and even DOS platforms. Reef Entertainment, who already have Rambo: The Video Game in their stable, say they are currently "studying all aspects and influences of the Terminator universe defined in Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day. We have started on our journey and are drawing on all the diverse materials available to produce a high quality, authentic and exciting Terminator video game."
We'll happily give it a play so long as Schwarzenegger agrees to lend his legendary vocals to the game.
To whet your appetite, here's one of our favourite Terminator 2 clips we'd love to enact in video game form:
