The chances of your plane falling out of the sky are incredibly slim - but that doesn't stop a hefty dose of turbulence being pretty scary stuff.
This amazing footage was taken by John Mitchell, a passenger on American Airlines fight 280, flying from Seoul to Dallas Fort Worth on Tuesday evening before it was caught in a massive winter storm off the coast of Japan.
Winds of 200-240mph were reported up in the jet stream and the resulting motion shook the plane to such an extent that there were 14 injuries, which forced the plane to make an unscheduled landing at Tokyo's Narita airport.
Despite the frightening nature of the footage, in reality the plane was in little danger - the Boeing 777 can withstand enormous pressures on its wings and cabin. However, we cannot say for certain that we'd have remained perfectly calm had we been on that flight.
