The Avengers just assembled to take down Donald Trump
"A racist, abusive coward who could permanently damage the fabric of our society"
When the earth is under threat from a bewigged tyrant intent on getting his tiny radioactive orange hands on nuclear launch codes, who exactly do you call?
Why The Avengers of course, that's who. Assembled by filmmaker Joss Whedon to get people to vote in the forthcoming US elections, the actors behind the spandex made sure they got some not so subtle digs in at the one they call Trump.
Titled Save the Day, the video sees Robert Downey Jr, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Don Cheadle and the like ram home the importance of voting, and it's not long before their serious façade is lost when a few non Marvel-ites, including Julianne Moore, begin to parody the very same luvvie/liberal campaign they’re starring in.
There’s no mention of names, nor parties, but when Cheadle can fire off a line about a “racist, abusive coward who could permanently damage the fabric of our society” it doesn't take Bruce Banner to know he's not talking about Ultron. Because despite the gags, the actors are fully aware they are addressing a very serious issue here.
We won’t spoil the ending but it may involve Mark Ruffalo’s penis.
Like we said, serious stuff.
