They were announced this year, we were teased with small glimpses of what might be, then they were cruelly taken away from us. But they'll be back next year, fighting for space and your pre-order money. Here are five of the best...
Halo
Whether it's a proper Halo 5, an offshoot or even a reboot is unclear - the logo simply read Halo. Where it's set is unclear - we clearly saw Master Chief walking through a desert, but that was a CGI trailer rather than gameplay. What we do know - it's destined for the Xbox One. Which suddenly makes the extra £80 you'll have to pay to own one a little more agreeable. But only by a little.

Mirror's Edge
This is a reboot - that's been made very clear. Which is fair enough. As much as gamers have been clamouring for a sequel, the original free-running action game not a particularly well-known property. And it received only middling reviews. What's always been clear is that the potential was there. With a move to an open world, let's hope next year we see that it's being fulfilled.

Star Wars Battlefront
Who knows when this might show up. The deal for EA to publish Star Wars games has only just been done so, at best, this probably only exists in the minds of the talented people at Dice in Stockholm. But, given the power of the new consoles we've seen, the scale of the battles on display should be mind-blowing. It'll be nice to have a good Star Wars game come out. It's been a while.

Mad Max
Before we say anything, it would mean a lot to the studio if you were made aware that this game has nothing in common with the upcoming Mad Max: Fury Road starring Tom Hardy. It's a standalone story, although the franchise's former setting in post apocalyptic Australia has been generalised to a post apocalyptic wasteland. It's also incredibly violent with many elaborate ways of causing death and destruction both on foot and (because this is a Mad Max game) in a vehicle.

The Order 1866
Somehow we thought we'd be bored of steampunk by now. Somehow, we're not. Which is a good thing for The Order 1866. A PS4 exclusive, it's a shooter set in Victorian London, just a Victorian London with hints of advanced technology. Which is handy, because monsters appear to be attacking it. The story will also call for you to interact with various real-life historical characters in a move not entirely ripped off from Assassin's Creed. Just mostly.
