Cologne, Germany. A city famed for its Gothic architecture, Christmas market and superb beer.
Except for one week in August, when all of Europe's gamers descend upon its Koelnmesse exhibition centre to cheer at video games.
These are the biggest, best and most frenetic trailers of Gamescom 2015 - a list that might finally convince you it's time to buy a 'next-gen' console.
It's about time.
Mafia III
Waddaya mean you never played the original Mafia games? Wad kinda chump are ya?
Don't worry - it's a far better franchise than our poor Goodfellas impression makes out. Brutal, edgy and far more mature than the average GTA.
Star Wars Battlefront
If the prospect of flying the Millennium Falcon into a dog fight against TIE Fighters, flanked by X-Wings, swooping over lava-covered moons, doesn't fill you with childish glee - then frankly you aren't the kind of person we want to hang out with.
You can leave now. Thanks.
Destiny: The Taken King
Did you stop playing Destiny because you couldn't keep up with the 14-year-olds who were playing it every day and schooling you whenever you attempted to "have a quick play"? Good news - The Taken King is going to change up a lot of Destiny's features, including levelling, so casual Guardians might find it a much more enjoyable world.
Halo Wars 2
More a teaser than a full trailer, Microsoft hasn't given up on the idea of strategy games.
Mirror's Edge Catalyst
Run, jump, run a bit more, pause the game because you've got motion sickness, recover, get back to running. But seriously, Mirror's Edge was an underrated classic, and the sequel has us very excited indeed.
Dark Souls III
Dark Souls just won't die. Which is great news if you're a fan of FromSoftware's controller-breaking RPG hack'em'up. By the look of the nasties in this first look, you're going to die soooo many times.
Quantum Break
You know that bit in X-Men: Days of Future Past when Quicksilver runs around a room full of guards creating silly mayhem? Quantum Break is essentially that scene, extended over a whole game. Control time, shoot people, and enjoy a narrative with proper actors.
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege
We're not sure that kids these days even know who Tom Clancy was - but his name lives on in the latest instalment of this vast gaming franchise. Sneak about, right up until the point it's time to stop sneaking, at which point you get to blow people away with a shotgun.
Crack Down 3
You're a super-powered agent, out to save a city - which has an annoying habit of blowing up.
Doom
We saw a bit of DOOM at E3 - and this is more of the same. Pull limbs, crush skulls, bathe in the blood of your enemies, and remember to pick up some stain remover from the shops on your way home.
Mad Max
If this year's chaotic film left you wanting more, you can skip the wait on the cinematic sequel for this splendid action racer. If you preorder now, you apparently get 'The Ripper'. We have no idea what that means, but it sounds horrible.
Fifa 2016
Football! But better than the last football! New football! It's different! Honest...
