No, we're not joking. That's the eyebrow-raising premise behind the new title of Owlchemy Labs, Job Simulator.
One of the first games announced for Valve and HTC's new virtual reality headset, the Vive (you can see the face-hugging tech in the video below), Job Simulator is set to be one of the first motion tracking, immersive experiences for the new SteamVR platform.
With its robotic tongue placed firmly in its metallic cheek, Job Simulator is set in the year 2050, a future in which human occupations have been made obsolete by automated systems, players must follow instructions from the "keeper of human history", Job Bot, in order to learn what it is "to job".
"Robots cook, clean, service, and rule organise the world with precision and speed," reads the game's description. "Human occupations are now memories of the past; long gone are the blue collar jobs that ran the old world." So with your expensive Vive strapped to your face, you'll be able to experience the thrills of working in a kitchen, serving at tables and the challenges of cleaning up after people.
Still confused? Here's a (very short) teaser of what to expect.
