"Yabadabadoo!" - is probably what you exclaimed upon reading that headline. Or, for those of you with less theatrical leanings, "Oh, cool".
The foot-powered news has scampered over from The Hollywood Reporter that Warner Bros. Animation are looking to give the beloved stone age family a feature-length animated revival. Chris Henchy (The Campaign, The Other Guys) is penning an initial script, with both Will Ferrell and Adam McKay attached as executive producers.
Having come off air in 1966, the record-setting animated series appears very much alive in the memory of popular culture - despite 1994's woefully poor live-action outing and the seldom mentioned The Flinstones in Viva Rock Vegas of 2000. Family Guy's Seth MacFarlane attempted an animated reboot as recently as 2011, but failed to impress with a pilot script.
Further details are yet to emerge, but Warner Bros. have recently placed two placemarkers for unnamed animated projects in 10 February 2017 and 9 February 2018. We'll keep you informed.
