Move aside, deep fried mac and cheese. Your time is up, stroganoff. There's a new challenger to the 'ridiculous burger' crown, and it hails not from the culinary labs of New York or Tokyo, but Harrogate, North Yorkshire.
The Yorkshire pudding burger is the creation of Jeremy Rose, bar manager of the town's Rift & Co. Speaking to The Harrogate Advertiser, Rose said he was inspired to try something a bit different having seen a doughnut burger in Leeds. "The new menu will have a big burger selection but we wanted something that really stands out."
Half Sunday roast, half burger, the Yorkshire pudding burger sees the restaurant's homemade beef patty sandwiched between two of Yorkshire's finest battered offerings, topped - and we're quoting their menu here, not resorting to Yorkshire stereotypes of our own - "wit’ cheese and by gum it were grand."
Costing the humble sum of £9.95 with a dash of slaw and skinny chips, it's the ideal warm up to the Christmas gluttony.
We'll see you in the queue.
