Denim is back in a big way. Heck, even double denim – the daring combination of denim jeans and a denim jacket – can be attempted without fear of bloody reprisals. Three years ago, close friends and family would have disowned you for such a folly.
To celebrate the crucial part denim plays in a man’s wardrobe, Selfridges is laying on Destination Denim (20 Aug 9 Sep), where leading denim brands will, essentially, be showing off in London, Birmingham and Manchester. Replay will offer customers the chance to make their own jeans with the aid of traditional tools, while master up cycler Dr Noki will be creating custom jeans. And Paul Smith is set to showcase a collection inspired by a group of free-climbers. So now there’s no excuse not to wear double, or even triple, denim.
