Designed by Keiichi Matsuda, London Design Festival designer

You can find more planes here.

Design: “Coming up with the right design was a really fun process. I spent half a day making hundreds of different designs and just throwing them around the studio. We’ve adapted a traditional design. The one I settled on is a bit complex to fold because it’s got a few origami folds in it, but I always used to like origami as a child.”

Attributes: “It flies better if you fold the wings up slightly in a V-shape, not so the wings are completely flat.”

ShortList test flight result: It’s a big job and distance isn’t its strongest attribute. But it looks a like a Klingon warship so Trekkers will love it.

Style: “Social media is such a strong thing in our world at the moment; we’re led to believe that everything should be shared. I want to offer a different kind of messaging service on the plane so I made it attractive. My wife’s an illustrator and she helped with the graphics. She’s inspired by traditional Japanese textiles.”
