Every now and then, a work of science fiction rubs alarmingly close to the bone.
Think Black Mirror, Her, or even Wall-E - all nudging us toward a future that isn't laden with laser beams and aliens, but heralds a future that could be just around the corner.
The latest live action trailer for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is just one such piece of sci-fi: set in 2027, it depicts a world in which mechanically-augmented limbs and body parts are actively preferred to 'normal' bodies. Then, without warning, people all over the world being suffering from extreme psychotic delusions and attacking people at random. Millions die.
It's in this new world of hatred, prejudice, and fear - depicted in this latest dramatic trailer - that Mankind Divided takes place. You play Adam Jensen, an experienced covert operative, forced to work in a world that has grown to despise your kind. Armed with a new arsenal of state-of-the-art weapons and augmentations, you must choose the right approach, along with who to trust, in order to unravel a vast worldwide conspiracy.
We're not sure it's going to be easy.
