The ShortListen: Chase & Status feat. Slaves (no. 260)
Returning dance giants channel Prodigy on new single
Who? Chase & Status, feat. Slaves
What’s the story? It's always good to be reminded just how absolutely brilliant the Prodigy were in their nineties heyday. Of course, they're still capable of excellence today, but they were so vital, so fresh and so exciting during the Music For The Jilted Generation era - and it changed everything that followed. And you can add Chase & Status to that list as the dance titans unveil the first single from their upcoming fourth album. It features the Mercury-nominated duo Slaves and is that classic Prodigy mix of rave and punk with Laurie Vincent shouting out police-baiting slogans before some big riffing comes in. Hey, it's no Their Law, but then what is? It's a welcome blast of attitude and energy and it'll sound amazing in a field at festivals this summer.
