The ShortListen: Palace Winter (no. 251)

Smiths-style excellence from Danish/Australian duo

The ShortListen: Palace Winter (no. 251)

Who? Palace Winter

What’s the story? A third appearance on The ShortListen for Danish/Australian duo Palace Winter, and they continue to hook us in with their Smiths-style guitar riffs and Empire of the Sun-style vocals. Positron, the lead single from their recently announced debut album Waiting For The World To Turn, which is due out in June, is sonically a relative of the amazing Menton - the song which first caught our ear - with its gentle groove of a beat, its sunbeam of a chorus and Johnny Marr-style guitar work all over the shop. Once again, like that song, it also boasts a glorious outro - this one a bit different to the last, and we'll leave you to enjoy it without any further description.

For fans of: The Smiths, Empire of the Sun

In three words: Road trip indie
